School Uniform

Our Uniform

Kents Hill School & Nursery recognises the importance of personal appearance in setting high expectations and a positive tone. This is reflected in our Uniform Code for pupils and staff.

Our uniform policy can be found here: Uniform Policy – Kents Hill School – 2022

The implementation of such a policy brings several benefits:

  • The creation of a positive sense of belonging which promotes a positive school ethos and a sense of identification with and loyalty to Kents Hill School & Nursery
  • An increase in pupils’ awareness of the requirement to dress appropriately for the circumstances in which they find themselves; encouraging a purposeful attitude to school work and extra-curricular activities.
  • A reduction in the pressure which can be placed on young people to adhere to fashion trends; discouraging competition between pupils, bullying and victimisation.
  • Improved security resulting from easier identification of young people within the school, in the school grounds and on school trips and visits.

When deciding on our uniform, we have carefully considered the financial implications and ensured we have sourced a uniform, which is both durable and cost effective. The full governing body has unanimously agreed to support the encouragement of children wearing school uniform. In order to successfully support parents with additional purchases, especially mid-year, there is always a selection of pre-loved uniform available at school, which can be purchased for a small donation.

Uniform Labelling

Please, please, please can we request that ALL items of your child’s property are labelled. As well as their uniform, this includes lunchbags, bookbags, water bottles and shoes. As you can appreciate, trying to re-unite children with their belongings when they are not named is a time-consuming task.

Please also periodically check that any labels that you have stuck or written in have remained after going through the washing machine. This is also a good opportunity to check that your child’s item does actually belong to them and they haven’t accidentally picked up another child’s belongings.

We have sourced some self-adhesive personalised name labels that are easy to use, require no sewing or ironing and can be used on multiple items, such as clothing, shoes, lunch boxes etc. Please click on the following link to go direct to the STIKINS site to place an order: Self Adhesive Labels.

Please be aware that during busy periods, e.g. summer holidays, stock may be limited and timescales for delivery may be longer, due to excessive demand

Bookbag and PE Bags

Book bags and PE bags are available to purchase from the school office at £5.00 each.
